St Malachy’s Glencull emerged victorious at the Tyrone CnmB Indoor Girls’ Gaelic Football Qualifier i Loughview Dungannon, on Monday, 23 February, after an exciting morning of high‑intensity action featuring six competing schools.
The tournament included St Patrick’s Aughadarragh, St Macartan’s Clogher, St Mary’s Fivemiletown, St Mary’s Ballygawley, St Brigid’s Altamuskin, and St Malachy’s Glencull. With each side playing five five‑minute matches, the quickfire format ensured fast, skilful football from start to finish.
Competitive League Stages
Glencull set the early pace with an opening 4–0 win over Aughadarragh, adding further victories against Altamuskin and Clogher to secure their position at the top end of the table. Ballygawley also impressed, recording wins over Fivemiletown, Clogher and Altamuskin as they pushed strongly for qualification.
Aughadarragh delivered notable displays, including a 5–1 win against Fivemiletown and a 2–0 victory over Clogher in the final round.
With the league phase complete, Glencull and Ballygawley finished as the top two teams, earning their places in the tournament final.
Final Decided in Extra Time
The final proved a thrilling contest. Glencull and Ballygawley were level at 2–2 after a penalty save during the regulation five minutes, forcing extra time to separate them. Glencull rose to the occasion, hitting two unanswered scores to seal a 3–1 win after extra time and claim the qualifying title.
Attention Turns to the County Final
St Malachy’s Glencull now progress to the Tyrone County Finals Day, which will take place on Wednesday, 11th March, at MUSA, Cookstown. They will enter the county stage with confidence after a composed and consistent showing in Dungannon.
A Showcase of Skill and Spirit
Across all fixtures, the standard of football was exceptionally high, with every school contributing to a competitive and enjoyable event. The sportsmanship and effort shown by all players was a credit to their schools and coaches.

🎶 Big Beginnings in P1 at St Malachy’s! 🎶
In Primary 1, learning music starts in the most natural way possible — by listening. 👂✨
Before little hands find rhythms or little voices sing melodies, our pupils learn to tune in, notice sounds, and explore the music that’s all around them.
From the rustle of leaves to the beat of a drum, listening helps children:
🌟 Build focus
🌟 Develop early musical awareness
🌟 Strengthen language and memory
🌟 Grow curiosity and confidence
It’s a gentle, joyful start — and the foundation for a lifelong love of music. 💛🎵
